SCHOOL MEALS

We attach great importance to the provision of meals in our school. We run our own in-house catering and ensure that our meals are always healthy and balanced. Where possible most of the food is sourced locally and we use fresh, local produce whenever we can. We follow a healthy eating policy and ensure a wide selection of options are available to students. The Standards we comply with are set by the Government .

We have a dedicated team who work hard to produce a wide variety of meals for both students and staff and all of our food is cooked fresh each day. We offer a range of options for those Pupils who have special dietary needs. The catering staff are always on hand to help with any allergy or dietary information.

The school operates a ‘cashless system’ for school meals. Accounts are credited using ‘ParentPay’ to pay for students’ meals online. ‘ParentPay’ also allows you to check your balance and to see what a student is eating. A letter with full details on how to access ParentPay will be issued to you when your child starts our school.

Free school meals

Free school meals are available to students whose parents receive certain benefits.  Please visit the North Yorkshire County Council website, if you think that you may qualify for this support.

i am entitled to a free meal, how does it work?

Students in receipt of free school meals are given an allocation of £2.85 per day, which cannot be carried over, ie if it is not spent on a particular day, it effectively disappears. £2.95 is the price of any of our Meal Deals . Students can only use their daily allocation at lunch time. Parents can also top up their child’s account using Parent pay to ensure there is a buffer in the event that a child wants to spend more than £2.95 each day. A daily limit can be set up on individual accounts to prevent overspending. Please contact the school if this is something you would like to consider.
