Key Stage 4 Programmes of Study

The Key Stage 4 programmes of study guide provides detailed information on the courses that we offer at Key Stage 4. Students are asked to make their course choices during Year 9 and most courses then begin at the start of Year 10.

Over half of the taught curriculum in Year 10 and Year 11 is made up of the core subjects: English language, English literature, maths, combined science, religious studies and physical education.

Students are then asked to choose four further courses which make up options A-D.

At Northallerton School & Sixth Form College we are very proud of the range of courses that we offer at Key Stage 4. In addition to the academic GCSE options, we also have a growing number of vocational subjects. For example, students at Northallerton School & Sixth Form College can choose between either GCSE Engineering or the Level 2 Technical Award in Engineering, allowing them to choose the course which will be most appropriate for their future career aspirations.

Our comprehensive Key Stage 4 programmes of study guide includes further information about the subject choices offered. The guide also contains useful information about the support available to students when making their choices. Click here to view the Key Stage 4 programmes of study guide.
