Winter Creative Writing Competition

15 December 2020  |  fnscreative

On 11th December, The English Department crowned Alex B (Year 9) as the winner of the Winter Creative Writing Competition, which was advertised on Instagram @nssfc_english. Alex was awarded some stationery prizes and a £10 book voucher.

Alex created an impressive description using some ambitious vocabulary and told the tale of a pickpocket in Victorian London. It was clear that Alex was inspired by A Christmas Carol that Year 9 are currently studying in class.

In 2nd place was Billy D (who is proving to be a consistently great writer, as he finished in top spot for the Halloween Creative Writing Competition). Billy really captured Christmas and delivered a special message in his writing to connect with the reader. Billy received a £5 book voucher and some Christmas stationery.

With the same prizes on offer for 3rd place as that of 2nd, Aimee J (Year 7) took the bronze spot with her Christmas tale. Aimee used a huge range of linguistic techniques to create vivid imagery.

Well done to all students who participated. We really enjoyed reading all of the entries put forward.

Keep your eyes on Instagram for a poetry competition which Miss Osborne is hoping to launch next term.”
