Virtual Appointment for Sam

15 June 2020  |  fnscreative

Samuel, a year 11 student, has recently been appointed the first Fire Services Cadet for North Yorkshire 2020/2021. In a virtual ceremony that took place over video link, Samuel was presented with a certificate by the High Sheriff of Northallerton, David A Kerfoot. During the ceremony the High Sheriff commended Samuel for his hard work, emphasising the value of teamwork and the variety of skills he will practise that will help to build his confidence. During his speech he described Samuel as a ‘front line worker’ and welcomed Samuel into the Fire Service by stating that he ‘has joined another family’. Mr Kerfoot also highlighted to Samuel how important it will be to have fun in his new role.

Chief Fire Officer Andrew Brodie added to the praise of Samuel, highlighting the impact that being appointed Fire Services Cadet will have on Samuel’s future employability. He stated that Samuel is now “enormously more employable”, and, considering that Sam has his sights set on a future career in the Fire Service, Officer Brodie is hopefully correct!

Samuel, who is justifiably proud of his achievement, says his appointment ‘came about from me being a cadet and got picked for the role. I love being a cadet for community engagement and learning how the fire service operates.’

At Northallerton School and Sixth Form College we are all very proud of Samuel and his achievement. To view the video of the appointment ceremony please click here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnXKAtGPWok&t=20s
