Friday 15 February saw a visit from the BBC Bitesize Creative Industries Tour.

Students from Years 8, 9, 10, 12 and 13 were given the opportunity to hear about different jobs in the media industry through a lively presentation courtesy of the BBC’s tour. Fronted by BBC TV presenter Jonny Nelson, the students heard from a cameraman and runners from CBBC and CBeebies. Each gave an insight into their pathways into their jobs, and identified that there was no one single pathway, apart from a passion and a positive attitude.

Students were also given an opportunity to ask questions and find out more for themselves. Overall it was an entertaining and engaging event that gave students a different view of the media world.. After the event students said:

‘It was a very useful and fun experience!’

‘I learnt that if you work hard enough you can get to do your dream job’.

‘It made me think more about my future’.

‘It was interesting to find out that there are far more jobs that involve being creative than I thought’.
