Homeless to benefit as Dixie spends a night under the stars.

We are so proud at Northallerton School and Sixth Form College to have students who are willing to use their time and energies to provide help and support to those who are less fortunate than themselves or who are facing a difficult time.
Dixie, a student in Year 9, along with her family, has recently been helping to support Thirsk Homeless Association, a charity that aims to raise awareness of homelessness and provide support packages for those who find themselves with nowhere else to sleep other than on the streets.
Dixie and her mum planned to sleep on the streets and had raised sponsorship money to do so, but unfortunately their plan was postponed due to Covid-19. As an alternative, they decided to camp out in their garden on a chilly night in November. They completed their challenge and Dixie raised a fantastic £102.30 in sponsorship from family and friends.
Dixie, along with her sister Cassidy who is in Year 7, also helped the homeless last year by creating and distributing shoe boxes containing essential care items, as well as handing our hot drinks and food to support those sleeping on the streets.
Dixie’s mum describes her as a “young lady with a big heart”, and it’s clear from these kind, charitable (and brave…brrr!) actions that this is very true. Well done, Dixie!
