Gymnastic Girls Go for Gold

NSSFC students have been taking the gymnastic world by storm recently.

Year 7 student, Chloe Proud, is a real force to be reckoned with – a hardworking and committed gymnast who has long trained several times a week to get to her current outstanding level. Chloe’s squad, TeamGym Level 3 Youth Women’s Micro Team, have recently been crowned the British Gymnastics North of England TeamGym Champions. This triumph also means that Chloe and her team have qualified for the British Championships in July. This is an incredible achievement and we will all be looking out for her in the summer and beyond. 

Sophia Nicholson in year 9, alongside her partner, Willow, competed in the NDP finals (North East Acrobatic Championships) and, incredibly, came first in the Women’s Pair Grade 3 category. This is an amazing win for Sophia whose training takes up at least 10 hours per week at the Tees Valley Gymnastics Club in Middlesbrough. This demonstrates her true commitment to the sport and shows the sacrifices she is prepared to make in order to accomplish her dream. Sophia has had to work extremely hard in recent weeks as she was training as a trio, then went to a doubles partnership. She had to learn a whole new routine, pitches and balances in a short space of time.
