Students at Northallerton School & Sixth Form College celebrated their outstanding GCSE results today in our brand new, state-of-the-art Sixth Form Centre.
Students had the opportunity to share their achievements with staff and students; they were given guidance about their next steps and were offered refreshments in our new sixth form common room. Here are a few, of the many comments we heard from our students today:
Lucy Godfrey, “Very happy, proud and relieved! The new sixth form looks very modern and nice.”
Jamil Rahman, “I can’t believe what I have achieved, but couldn’t have done it without the support of my teachers, especially during lockdown when the support and lessons were fantastic.”
Jack Leggot, “I was terrified, but I’m ecstatic with my results and I am very excited for next year. The new sixth form centre looks great!”
Lily McVeigh, “I am very chuffed. I am delighted with my maths and physics results, with all of my results! The new site is really cool.”
Vicki Rahn Headteacher said: “We are immensely proud of all the work and achievements of our students, especially after such a difficult and disrupted year. Our teachers have worked tirelessly to ensure students are all able to progress onto the next step of their educational journey. We look forward to welcoming back a large number of our students to our brand new Sixth Form College in September.”
Richard Crane, CEO of the Areté Learning Trust said: “Despite all of the challenges that students and staff have faced during the last academic year, we are delighted to celebrate their achievements and success. I’d like to thank the students and teachers for all of their hard work, parents/carers and families for all of the support they have provided for our students throughout their time at Northallerton School & Sixth Form College. We wish all of Year 11 every success for the future and look forward to supporting the many who are returning to us in September, welcoming them back to our new and greatly improved facilities”.
This year, following the cancellation of exams, grades were awarded through a process of teacher assessed grades against a national standard that was approved and awarded by the exam boards. The government is not publishing performance data for any schools or colleges this year due to the varying impact of the pandemic.
Our Sixth Form Open Evening is on Thursday 21st October, 6-8pm and will be hosted in our new, purpose-built Sixth Form Centre; everyone is welcome.
