Performing Arts students get creative in lockdown

Finding a way to approach Drama over remote learning has given us the opportunity to explore elements of the subject in different ways. Whilst leading practical tasks has not been possible, all students have been given the opportunity to see live performance by watching recorded performances of the National Theatre's past productions, including Wonder.land in Year 7, Treasure Island in Year 8, One Man, Two Guvnors in Year 9 and Frankenstein in Year 10.

Since September, the 30 strong cast of students from Year 7 to Year 13 have worked with dedication and energy to rehearse the songs, dances and scenes ready for performance. With rehearsals taking place every week since the start of the year and twice a week since half term, including rehearsals in half term, the cast have invested so much time and effort into preparing a show which was ready to go this week.

The school production of Alice by Laura Wade was overall an exciting play to produce and in our opinion one of the best school productions to date.This year’s excellent choice of show gave the cast an opportunity to really expand their creativity and showmanship by creating so many weird and wonderful characters to set the scene of wonderland. Every school production has such an amazing and supporting group behind it and the cast becomes like a family for the duration of the show through everything we always have such an amazing time...
