Capturing a Sunset

03 December 2020  |  fnscreative

Miss Allsop, Head of Art had great success when she has launched our first photography competition. The idea came to her when she happened to stumble on the wonderful evening sky as she returned home. The colours were so vivid and wonderful she thought, what a great opportunity to get students outdoors and capturing such wonderful sunsets.

The competition ran on our new school Art Instagram (Northallerton_college_art) and Miss Allsop was overwhelmed by the responses over the following weekend. As the amazing sunset photographs came through she posted each one, as she did so she realised that it was only fair for the competition to be judged by the followers. It was a very close call however, the wining photograph was taken by Holly, a Year 10 student. The image is of a stunning sunset in Ambleside, in the Lake District, it is dark and dreamy and captures the sunset reflecting and rippling across the lake to the boats in the foreground.

Will, a Year 11 student gained second place for his photograph which was taken behind Barkers department store in Northallerton.

It was thrilling to see such engagement with the challenge. We hope you enjoy the photographs as much as we do. Well done to all involved in a spectacular series of sunset photographs.

Miss Allsop looks forward to rolling out more creative challenges for all our students in the future.
