'I attended Northallerton School from 2005 to 2012 for all my secondary school education. I left with A-levels in Art, Biology, and Physics. Funnily enough I dropped out of French A-level on the first day and was tempted to take graphics instead but then switched to biology, which was quite convenient as I then went on to pursue that at Oxford University for my undergrad degree. I think this gives a sense of how uncertain I was of what I wanted to do with the rest of my life let alone career....

Students at Northallerton and Richmond Sixth Form Colleges have received a tremendous boost to their careers support with £26,000 of funding from the Ivy House Award. Sponsored by Nat West, this is a fantastic programme to enhance careers and employability that develops leadership, confidence and life skills. Liz Mannion, Careers Leader at Northallerton School & Sixth Form College, secured the funding and the Areté Learning Trust colleges are privileged to be two of only 15 sixth form establishments across the UK...

Hi, I’m Morgan, I’m 17 and live in Northallerton. I’ve spent my entire 7 years of secondary school and sixth form education at Northallerton School. Although there have been ups and downs I’ve enjoyed my time at Northallerton School and Sixth Form College, and without it and its staff I don’t think I’d have got to where I am today. In January I received my offer to study biology at the University of Oxford, which has been my goal since completing my GCSEs.

YES@ARETÉ LEARNING TRUST TRAINING: UNDERSTANDING & SUPPORTING ADHD ON 12TH FEBRUARY

YES@ Areté Learning Trust are working closely with the national organisation the ADHD Foundation to provide staff across the Trust, and in the locality, with training on how to support young people whose present with attention and concentration issues on the ADHD continuum . On February, 12th February, from 9:30 to 12:30, they will be hosting a webinar on ‘Understanding and Supporting ADHD’. A limited number of discounted parent places are available however training specifically aimed at parents is planned in the future.

On Friday 29th January, students at school in the year 7 pod took part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch. Earlier in the week the students had set up feeding stations with a variety of different foods to attract the birds. The children took turns identifying and recording the birds that visited.
