Assessment

Examination May and June 2019

GCSE mathematics is examined at Foundation and a Higher tier. Students sit three question papers at the same tier, one of which is non-calculator. All question papers must be taken in the same exam period.

Foundation grades: 1-5

Higher grades: 4-9

Grade 4 is classed as a ‘standard’ pass, grade 5 is a good pass.

Progression

Success in this subject at grade 4 or higher will support sixth form study in other subjects. In order to progress to A level mathematics a student, realistically, would need to achieve at least grade 6 or above.
